Founded in 2009, at the nadir of the Great Recession, Wisconsin Gazette has flourished despite the odds in a challenging media market by providing high-quality journalism, honest business practices and award-winning design.
From a humble circulation of 9,000, we have tripled our readership in less than six years to a current biweekly press run of more than 28,000 (2015 audit pending) — and we’re rapidly growing. Advertisers benefit from our coordinated multiplatform campaigns, including print, Web, social media and e-newsletters.
Wisconsin Gazette — or WiG, as we call it — has garnered 22 Milwaukee Press Club awards in the past four years, making it Milwaukee’s most awarded alt weekly. We were especially honored when the AAN awarded us with a Best Cover Design award at its 2015 annual convention in Salt Lake City.
We’ve become a primary source for news and commentary targeting progressive readers, particularly those with a special interest in LGBT, environmental, political, women’s health, income inequality, animal welfare, racial and immigration issues, as well as supporters of the local art, music and theater scene. We also feature very popular pet and dining sections.
Our deep connection with our readers’ interests is reflected in the frequent feedback we receive on our website and Facebook page, which consistently has the highest level of engagement of any AAN member in Wisconsin.
In addition to serving metro Milwaukee, we distribute biweekly throughout southeastern Wisconsin, including Kenosha, and in metro Madison. Through outstanding design and strict circulation control, we reach and engage readers normally associated with glossy city and regional magazines.
